Privacy Policy
This is SKUA's current, accurate privacy policy describing what the app actually does. We may publish an expanded legal version; this remains in force until superseded.
1. Who we are
SKUA ("we", "us") operates the SKUA mobile app and skua.travel. For any privacy question, contact hello@skua.travel.
2. What we collect
- Account: your email address (used for one-time-code sign-in), display name, and optional profile details (bio, photo, social links).
- Verification: when you join a trip that requires it, phone number and/or identity documents you choose to submit for verification. Documents are private by default and shared only as needed to verify you for a specific trip.
- Location: only while you actively turn on location sharing for a trip, and only with that trip's group, so members can find each other and stay safe. You can stop sharing at any time.
- Content: trips, messages, and photos ("memories") you create or upload.
- Device: a push-notification token so we can deliver alerts you've enabled.
3. How we use it
- To run the service — authentication, trips, messaging, verification, safety features and notifications.
- To establish trust between organisers and travellers (e.g. verification badges).
- To respond to support requests and keep the service secure.
We do not sell your personal data.
4. Sharing
- With your trip group: profile basics, and — only while enabled — your live location.
- Service providers: Supabase (database, authentication and file storage) and Expo (push-notification delivery), who process data on our behalf.
- Legal: where required by law.
5. Retention
We keep your data while your account is active. Verification one-time codes are short-lived and single-use. You can request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by emailing hello@skua.travel.
6. Your rights
You may access, correct, export or delete your personal data. Contact us and we'll action your request.
7. Children
SKUA is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
8. Changes
We'll update this page and the "last updated" date when this policy changes.
